Mary June Barnes, 80 of Luray, MO died Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Scotland County Hospital in Memphis, MO.

She was born November 15, 1942 in Scotland County, MO the daughter of Arthur and Sadie Aldridge Rood. Mary June graduated from Memphis High School with the class of 1960.

On May 7, 1961 Mary June was united in marriage to Jim Barnes in Memphis. He survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Michael Barnes (Diana) of Luray, MO and Mark Barnes of Memphis, MO, two daughters, Laurie Boughton (Randy) of Thailand, and Lisa Barnes of Missouri, and six grandchildren, Ashley Barnes, Joshua Boughton, Zoe Boughton, Caleb Boughton, Nicholas Hooper and Nessa Jo Smith (Keith) and her great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, JoAnn Rood of Memphis, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter, Valerie Williams and one brother, Dale Rood.

Mary June had been employed by Sheller Globe/Metzler/Henniges for thirty-six years.

She attended First Baptist Church in Wayland, MO.

Mary June was a gardener with a green thumb. Every summer she grew beautiful flowers and all types of vegetables. She canned much of what she raised and drove her golf cart around her yard to tend to her gardens.

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on January 9, 2023 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka, MO with Pastor Dan Deatrick officiating. Burial was held in the Memphis Cemetery.

Visitation was held from 4-6 p.m. on January 8, 2023 at the funeral home with family meeting with friends at that time.
