Martha Mae Brown, 86, of Keokuk, IA, died Friday, January 15, 2010 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA. She was born on April 4, 1923 in Donnellson, IA, the daughter of LeRoy and Dorothy Jackson Kay. On June 16, 1941, Martha was united in marriage to Steven "Joner" Brown, Jr. in Kahoka, MO. He preceded her in death in May of 1970. Martha enjoyed sewing, taking trips to Georgia and caring for her birds and dog. She was a loving wife and mother and her greatest joy was taking care of her family. She is survived by three daughters, Dorothy Andrews and her husband Ronald of Ball Ground, GA, Linda Brown and her friend Charlie Dean of Keokuk, IA, and Diane Brown, three sons, Steven "Butch" Nan Brown of Alexandria, MO, Joner "Pete" Brown and his wife Chris of Keokuk, and William "Bill" Brown and his friend Tina Bryce of Keokuk, IA, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and one brother, Donald Kay of Keokuk. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, John Brown, three children at birth, and seven brothers, John R. Kay, David W. Kay, Elmer A. Kay, Harold A. Kay, Roger A. Kay, Herbie N. Kay and Ralph E. Kay Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Tuesday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Reverend Geoff Mitchell officiating. Burial was in the Donnell Cemetery in Donnellson, IA.
