Marlene J. Stamper, 73, of Keokuk, IA, died Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, IA. She was born on August 25, 1931 in Keokuk, IA, the daughter of Millard and June Swift Deck. On September 3, 1949, Marlene was united in marriage to Clifford Stamper in Keokuk, IA. He preceded her in death on July 27, 1997. Marlene was a lifelong resident of Keokuk, IA and graduated from Keokuk Senior High with the Class of 1949. She was an active member of the New Testament Christian Church of Keokuk and was involved in several of the church's ministries. She enjoyed being with her church friends and going on bus trips to Branson and other locations. Marlene loved life and was enthusiastic about everything she did. She always had a smile and encouraging word for everyone. She was a loving wife, sister, mother and grandmother and treasured the times she spent with her family. Marlene is survived by three children, her daughter Trudy Atterberg of Keokuk, IA, her son Steve Stamper of Lakewood, CO and another son, Dave Stamper, three brothers, Bill Deck and his wife Rosie of Keokuk, IA, Donald Deck and his wife Shirley of Ft. Madison, IA and Larry Deck of Keokuk, IA, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Elaine, and three brothers, Stanley, Nick and Millard. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 17 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Burial was in the Keokuk National Cemetery. Memorials were established for the New Testament Christian Church and the Keokuk Christian Academy.
