View Timeless Tributes Video Marla Kavanagh, 70, of Keokuk, IA, died Sunday, October 26 2008 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. She was born on October 5, 1938 in Keokuk, IA, the daughter of William Francis Collier and Darlyne Nye Collier. On August 5, 1956 she was united in marriage to Jack Kavanagh in Keokuk, IA. He survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Gail Forbis and her husband Jim of Ridgecrest, CA, two grandsons, Joshua Day and Keith Day both of Oak Harbor, WA, one granddaughter Megan Kavanagh of Ridgecrest, CA, four great grandchildren, Shawn, Kaitlin, and Britany Day and Kaleb Kavanagh, two sisters, Andrea Saar and her husband Jerry of Keokuk, IA, and Sherry Coovert and her husband Keith of Keokuk, IA, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Cindy Day, three brothers, Bill Collier, Bob Collier and Tom Collier. She had been employed at the Naval Weapons Center in China Lake, CA until 1988 when she retired. Marla was a member of First Christian Church in Keokuk, IA. She was an avid reader and loved to travel and square dance. Funeral serviceswere held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 31at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Pastor Mike Shea officiating. Burial was in the Keokuk National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
