Marjorie Katherine Canon, 84, of Keokuk, IA died Sunday, October 22, 2006 at her home. She was born on July 7, 1922 in Frankfort, IL, the daughter of Oscar and Grace Raycroft Storey. On December 30, 1949, Marjorie was united in marriage to James Wilson Canon in Elgin, IL. He preceded her in death on November 5, 2003. She graduated from the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL with the Class of 1945. Marjorie had been employed as a bookkeeper at Photosix in Wheaton, IL for twenty five years. She had also been employed as a preschool teacher for ten years at preschools in Wheaton, IL including the Greentree Preschool. She retired in 1996 and moved to Keokuk, IA. She was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Keokuk, IA and the Institute for Creation Research. Marjorie enjoyed reading, attending church functions and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by four daughters, Karen Vion and her husband George of Lake Hughes, CA, Cynthia Russell and her husband Peter of Rock Falls, IL, Darlene Broadhurst and her husband Robert of Donnellson, IA, and Winifred Alberts and her husband Marvin of Keokuk, IA, sixteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, two sisters, Edyth Miller and her husband Sam of West Chicago, IL, and Faith Storey of Las Vegas, NV, one brother, Lester Storey and his wife Diane of Cave Junction, OR, and two brothers-in-law, Dan Canon and his wife Margaret of Wheaton, IL and Tom Canon of Carol Stream, IL. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Donald Storey, and three sisters, June Rosenthal, Ruth Dixon and Jean Myers. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 28 at the Evangelical Free Church in Keokuk, IA with Pastor Craig Burton officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk, IA. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Evangelical Free Church youth programs or missions.
