Marilyn E. Anderson

September 8, 1928 — June 3, 2026

Marilyn E. Anderson, 97 of Ft. Madison, IA formerly of Keokuk passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at 10:15 a.m. at River Valley Place in Ft. Madison, IA.

She was born September 8, 1928, the daughter of Paul and Hilda Maxfield Krehbiel in Charleston, Iowa. She married Charles Jabour in Davenport, Iowa in 1949. They were later divorced. She married Robert Anderson in Kahoka, Missouri in June of 1969 and moved from Donnellson to Keokuk. They enjoyed forty-eight years together before “Bob” passed in August of 2017.

Marilyn graduated from Donnellson High School in 1946 and went on to attend Iowa State Teachers College for one year. She taught at Van Buren, a one-room country school southwest of Donnellson, for one year. She then moved to Davenport and worked nights for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company as a long-distance switchboard operator. That was followed by many years in the office at Sheaffer Pen in Fort Madison and finally retired as Lee County Deputy Clerk of Court in Keokuk.

Marilyn was an avid Hawkeye football and basketball fan-going back to her high school days. She was baptized in the Zion Mennonite Church in Donnellson and later transferred her membership to Emmanuel Methodist Church in Keokuk where Bob and girls were members. She enjoyed her many friends at Emmanuel and the work that the United Methodist Women and Fidelity Circle did. She especially looked forward to her weekly euchre card club. Marilyn was a long-time member of both the Order of Eastern Star in Donnellson and the American Legion Auxiliary. For many years, Bob and Marilyn traveled to Satellite Beach, Florida, becoming snowbird with the “blue hairs.”

Besides her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, her brother and his wife Herbert and Ruth Krehbiel, her sisters and husbands, Beth and Wayne Roth, Doris and Richard Kempker, son-in-law, Sandy Gellatly and one great-grandson, Simon Anthony Moore.

She leaves behind five children, Barb (Gary) Anderson of Waterloo, Ginny (Larry) Dusanek of Fort Madison, Pam (Pat) Mahoney, John (Dodie) Jabour of Clive and Jill (Kip) Myers of Keokuk. Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and one cousin.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Pastor Carolyn Punt officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until service time with the family meeting with friends at that time at the funeral home.
