Marie Louise Peterson, 91 of Ferris, IL died Thursday, April 4, 2013 at her home. She was born September 18, 1921 in Keokuk, IA the daughter of William Edward Martin and Ethel Vivian Iler Buerklin. On August 1, 1959 she was united in marriage to Edward A. Peterson in Kahoka, MO. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1982. Marie graduated from Keokuk High School. In her earlier years, Marie enjoyed playing softball. She liked playing cards, working crossword puzzles, playing board games and was on a bowling league up until five years ago. At the age of 91 she enjoyed planting her own flowers and she still mowed her own grass. She cherished the company of her cats and dogs. Marie is survived by one son, Richard Malloy and his wife Cassandra of Keokuk, one granddaughter, Leslie Teeters of Keokuk, three great-grandchildren, Quinton, Marcus and Ryan Banes, one great-great-granddaughter, Madison Banes, one sister, Lil Vermillion and her husband George of Keokuk and several nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by six brothers, Ike, Carl, Larry, Don, Bob and Dewey Buerklin, two sisters, Dorothy Wardwell and Oneita Stoeber. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park in Keokuk, IA. Memorials may be made to FOKAS – Friends of Keokuk Animal Shelter or the City of Christmas in Keokuk.
