Marguerite Thorn, 96 of Keokuk, IA died Friday, February 22, 2013 at her home. She was born February 28, 1916 in Montrose, IA the daughter of John and Gladys Wilsey Kleiss. On October 28, 1933 she was united in marriage to Jasper Thorn in Kahoka, MO. He preceded her in death on February 12, 1990. Marguerite was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Keokuk and volunteered for the American Red Cross Grey Ladies. She liked crocheting doilies and afghans for family and friends to enjoy. She loved her four legged friend, Peaches and Cream. She is survived by one son, Gary Thorn of Keokuk, IA, four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Ralph Kleiss and Virgil Kleiss, one daughter, Judith Atterberg and two sisters, Katherine Hardin and Doris Rulon. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 27. 2013 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk, IA. Memorials may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ in Keokuk, IA.
