Margeret B. Dresser, 93 of Keokuk, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2014 at the Ft. Madison Community Hospital in Ft. Madison, IA. She was born June 30, 1921 in Gregory Landing, MO, the daughter of Harry and Ruth Blair Ort. She was united in marriage to Howard Raymond Dresser on June 29, 1941 in Ft. Madison. He preceded her in death on February 1, 1997. Margeret graduated from the Ft. Madison High School with the Class of 1939. Prior to marriage she worked at Shaeffer Pen. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Montrose. Margeret volunteered countless hours for 4-H and was admitted into the 4-H Iowa Hall of Fame in 2009. She was a skilled seamstress and created all kinds of clothes for her family and two wedding dresses for her girls. She made teddy bears out of Howard's clothes for her children and grandchildren as well as collected teddy bears. She enjoyed gardening and took the bounty of her garden to the kitchen where she canned a variety of things. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family especially at wiener roasts. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She is survived by one son; Raymond (Sandra) Dresser of Keokuk, five daughters; Betty Cruze of Argyle, Sue (Joe) Rex of Bonaparte, Maryella (Neil) Johnson of Keokuk, Alice (Ken) Niemeyer of Fulton, MO, and Ann (Mike) Penrod of Donnellson, 18 grandchildren; Tammy Koolbeck, Scott Clemenson, Tony Clemenson, Ray Rex, Teresa Green, Sandra Adair, Barbara Williams, Laura Moody, Kenneth Rex, Brian Johnson, Chris Johnson, Cathy Weirather, Jeff Dresser, Jamie Miller, Teena Yoh, Drew Niemeyer, Amy Niemeyer and Jessica Welch, 2 step grandchildren; William Cruze and Mark Cruze, 32 great-grandchildren, 8 step-great- grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and 5 great-great step grandchildren, one brother; Charles Ort and his wife Marilynn of Ft. Madison, sister in law, Elizabeth Dresser of Keokuk, brother in law, Carl Dresser of Keokuk and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Wilbert Ort, Mary Hoenig, Agnes Conlee and Melbourne Ort and son in law, Ralph "Bob" Cruze. Funeral services were held at 10:30 Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Pastor Goldie Laymon officiating. Burial was in the Montrose Cemetery in Montrose, IA. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church or to the American Heart Association.
