Margaret "Betty" Vermazen, 86, of Montrose, IA, died Friday, July 8, 2011 at the Montrose Health Care Center in Montrose, IA.
She was born February 22, 1925 in Keokuk, IA the daughter of Russell and Vica Knott James. On October 10, 1942, she was united in marriage to Charles E. Vermazen in Wayland, MO. He preceded her in death on November 20, 1996.
Margaret had been employed at Sheller Globe in Keokuk for thirty years, retiring in 1980.
She was a member of the Montrose Nazarene Church.
She loved working picture and crossword puzzles to help keep her mind sharp. She also enjoyed crocheting and knitting. Margaret was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and cherished the time she spent with her family.
She is survived by three daughters, Joyce Giberson and her husband Jay of Argyle, IA, Anita Dobson and her husband Terry of Montrose, IA and Sandy Wayland of Kahoka, MO, 7 grandchildren, Brenda Hagmeier, Brian Hagmeier and his wife Mary, Brad Hagmeier and his wife Brenda, Tina Parks and her husband Glen, Tara Thompson and her husband Aaron, Jennifer Walyand and Ron Wayland, several great grandchildren, two brothers-in-law, Robert Vermazen of Montrose, IA, Lloyd Stockwell of Rialto, CA, two sisters-in-law, Juanita James of Keokuk, IA and Mary Wardlow of Rialto, CA along with many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Russell James and Paul James.
Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Wednesday July 13, 2011 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Reverend Preston Smith officiating. Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park in Keokuk, IA.
