Margaret Anna Dresser, 80 of Keokuk, IA died Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA. She was born September 3, 1931 in Keokuk, IA the daughter of Martin and Virginia Stanton Peterson. On June 18, 1950 she was united in marriage to Carl Alvin Dresser in Keokuk, IA. He survives. Other survivors include two sons, Duane Dresser and his wife Pam and James Dresser, one daughter, Barbara Altheide and her husband George "Rick", five grandchildren, Craig Dresser, Todd Dresser and his wife Stacey, Eric Altheide, Beth Altheide and her friend Randy Morgan and Dani Jo Altheide, one great-granddaughter, Olivia Sue Dresser and one brother, Reverend Robert Peterson and his wife Sandy. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Martin "Pete" Peterson. Margaret graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1949. She worked as an educational aide for the Keokuk Community School District for 21 years, retiring in 1991. Margaret attended Montrose United Methodist Church in Montrose, IA. Margaret liked to keep her mind sharp by reading books and working crossword puzzles. She enjoyed researching her family's genealogy. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday,June 9 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Rev. Goldie Laymon officiating Burial was in the Montrose Cemetery in Montrose, IA. Memorials may be made to the Special Olympics or the Montrose United Methodist Church.
