Maree "Pete" Eveland

Maree" Pete" Eveland, 99 of Hamilton, IL died Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Unity Point-Keokuk. She was born October 14, 1919 in Harmon County Hollis, OK the daughter of Thomas Selby and Mary Fanny Morris Harris. Maree spent her childhood picking cotton and tending vegetables on a farm where peanuts and grains were also grown. In her early twenties she moved to Peoria, IL, and had been employed as a welder in a factory, in a distillery and later as a beautician. Maree was united in marriage to Merle Leonard "Red" Eveland and became a fulltime homemaker to their three children. They later divorced. Maree was of the Christian faith. She liked to faithfully read her Bible. She enjoyed making floral arrangements, listening to inspirational music and collecting antiques, especially pitchers. Most of all, she loved her family and cherished the time she spent with them. Maree is survived by two sons, Jerry Lynn Eveland of Quantico, VA and Dean Selby Eveland of Virginia City, Highlands, NV, one daughter, Kathy Brilon and her husband Hank of Warsaw, IL, grandchildren, John Dean Eveland and his wife Sarah of Canton, IL, Dr. Randy Warren Eveland and his wife Dr. Renee Eveland of Kirtland, OH, Bill Eveland and his wife Chris of Bloomington, IL and Melinda Martin of Keokuk, great- grandchildren, Maggie Anne Eveland, Sada Maree Eveland, Vincent Scott Eveland, Warren Kenneth Eveland, Jessica Ann Eveland, Matthew Harland Eveland, Joshua Carson Eveland, Jerod Hunter Martin and Faith Fabiola Martin. She was preceded in death by one brother, Walter Edison Harris, and two sisters, Dixie Mell Harris Ellis and Tommie O. Harris Engroff. Burial will be at 9:00 a.m., Monday, July 8, 2019 at the McKnight Cemetery in Hollis, OK. A memorial dinner will be held immediately following the service at Meers Store and Restaurant in Meers, OK.
