Lulu Belle Wendling, 90, of Keokuk, IA, passed over peacefully to be with her Lord on Friday, August 24, 2012 at River Hills Village in Keokuk, IA. She was born on December 14, 1921 in Cama, MO (Clark County), the daughter of Lynn and Hattie Parish Long. On August 27, 1941, Lulu Belle was united in marriage to Kenneth J. Wendling in Kahoka, MO. He preceded her in death on September 21, 1997. Lulu Belle graduated from the Kahoka High School with the Class of 1940. She had been employed at Keokuk Finance and Electro Metals in Keokuk as a bookkeeper. She quit her employment to take care of her mother. Lulu Belle had been a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Keokuk since she was 12 years old. She was a member of Mary's Sunday School Class which later became the Friendly Couples Class. She was also a member of the In His Name Circle of King's Daughters. Lulu Belle had a heart of gold. Her true essence of giving back was the power of her daily prayers for others. Her true joy was traveling with her husband in their camper and meeting up with family and friends. She is survived by two nieces Debbie Swensson of Newport Beach, CA and Vicky Litchey of Phoenix, AZ, two nephews, Bob Wendling and his wife Kay and Warren Wendling and his wife Sharon all of Boulder, CO, and special friends, Tom Azinger and MarScine and Raymond Bailey all of Keokuk, IA. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Judith Kay and one sister, Wilma Vermillion. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Reverend David Turner officiating. Burial was in the Keokuk National Cemetery.
