Lucille M. Huiskamp, 91, of Keokuk, IA , died Saturday, February 28, 2009 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA. She was born on June 6, 1917 in Keokuk, IA, the daughter of Emil V. and Mary M. Renz Miller. On December 27, 1938, Lucille was united in marriage to Carl C. Huiskamp at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Keokuk, IA. He preceded her in death on July 7, 2008. She graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1934. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Keokuk, IA. She was a charter member of the Graham Hospital Guild which later became the Keokuk Area Hospital Auxiliary. Lucille served as the treasurer of the Hospital Gift Shop for over 20 years and enjoyed working on the Auxiliary specialties committees. She was also an active member of the Girls Scouts of America and the Keokuk Country Club where she served on many committees. Lucille enjoyed many hobbies and interests including golf, bowling, bridge, gardening, knitting and traveling. She was a faithful fan of the Keokuk Chiefs for many years and enjoyed attending her children's and grandchildren's sporting events. Lucille was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and was devoted to her family. She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Poe of Keokuk, Tina Huiskamp and her husband Don LeHew of Chandler, AZ, and Leah Gudgel and her husband David of Keokuk, one son, Tom Huiskamp and his wife Verna of Salt Lake City, UT, twelve grandchildren, Cynthia Crew, Timothy Poe, Dana Boots, Vanessa Kowalski, Travis LeHew, Matthew Huiskamp, Russell Huiskamp, Carson Huiskamp, Clare Logsdon, Elizabeth Connor, Andrew Gudgel and Adam Gudgel, twenty great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, two brothers, Harley Miller of Keokuk, and V. Kenneth Miller and his wife June of Joliet, IL. She was also preceded in death by two grandsons, Roger LeHew and Samuel Christian Poe. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 5th at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Keokuk, IA with Dr. Emmanuel Dass officiating. Burial was in the Keokuk National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Keokuk Area Hospital Foundation, Trinity United Methodist Church or the Keokuk Foundation.
