Lucile M. Higbee, 93, of Kahoka, MO, formerly of Wayland, MO, died Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA. She was born on February 19, 1913 in Clark County, Missouri, the daughter of Harry and Eva Walker Brammer. She married Clyde Maddox and he preceded her in death. She then married Lewis N. Higbee. He survives. She is also survived by two step children, Thelma Jean Koch of Des Moines, IA and Lewis W. Higbee of Argyle, three sisters, Helen Hoewing of Davenport, IA, Mary Alice Kinkeade and her husband Walter of Kahoka, MO, and Edna Buckallew and her husband Glen of Kahoka, MO, two sisters-in-law, Naomi Brammer of Kahoka, MO and Zola Marie Brammer of Kahoka, MO, L, two step-grandaughters Melissa Koch, Dana Klemme, and a step-grandson Brian Klemme, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister Myrtle Beall and her husband Arthur and two brothers, Robert and Harold Brammer. Lucile lived in Clark County all of her life. She worked for J.C. Penney for 30 years before retiring in 1973. She was a member of the Wayland United Methodist Church and was the church secretary for 15 years. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women serving as the treasurer for 10 years and was active in the Wayland Extension Club. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and had received her 50 year pin. Lucile enjoyed traveling, sewing and helping other people. Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 8, 2006 at Wayland United Methodist Church in Wayland, MO with Reverend Deborah Schmidt officiating. Burial was in the Kahoka Cemetery, Kahoka, MO. Visitation was held after 1:00 p.m. with family meeting friends from 6-8 P.M. at the Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka, MO. Memorials may be made to the Wayland United Methodist Church.
