Louis Robert Knowles, 78, of Keokuk died Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
He was born August 23, 1936 in Keokuk, IA the son of Louis and Dorothy Droe Knowles. He graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1954.
On March 28, 1964, Louis was united in marriage to Sharen Thorn. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Robert Knowles of Atlanta, GA, and Kevin Knowles and his wife Tammy of Shiloh, IL, four grandchildren, Angela Dandridge and her husband Brandon, Brittney Foran, Chase Knowles and Devlyn Knowles.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Louis was of the Baptist faith. He had been employed at Hoerner Waldorf/Stone Container in Keokuk for thirty years, retiring in 1999.
He loved the outdoors and spent as much time as possible deer hunting, duck hunting and fishing. The Mississippi river was one of his favorite places to throw a line. Louis also loved to travel and never missed an opportunity to take a family vacation. Throughout the years they had traveled to almost every state in the USA.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 20, 2015 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Burial was in the Sandusky cemetery.
