Louis Faber, 84, of Keokuk, IA died Monday, April 25, 2005 at the Keokuk Area Hospital. He was born July 18, 1920 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Louis Joseph and Helen Marie Weeks Faber. Louis was a veteran of the United States Army and proudly fought for his country during WW II. He served in the Liberation of Dachau and in the Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns. He was the recipient of two Bronze Stars. He had been employed at Sheller Globe in Keokuk, IA for 37 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Keokuk, the American Legion Post #42 and the United Rubber Workers. He looked forward to the annual reunions of the Headquarters Battery 189th Field Artillery Battalion and enjoyed visiting with his Army buddies. Louis is survived by one nephew, Reverend Robert Faber and his wife Christena of Keokuk, IA, great nieces and nephews, Kirk, Erika and Kristian Faber, and great-great-nieces and nephews, Noah, Ethan and Amanda. He was preceded in death by one brother, Gerald Faber. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 28 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Reverend Goldie Laymon officiating. Burial with military rites were in the Keokuk National Cemetery. A memorial was established for the Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
