Lorraine Mierski, 85, of Keokuk, IA, died Thursday, March 21, 2019 at her home.
She was born on January 13, 1934 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of John and Emily Nowaczyk Wysolmierski.
She graduated from St. Josephat High School in Detroit.
She had been employed at Detroit Bank and Trust until her retirement. After her retirement, she became a student at Marygrove College in Detroit and received her Associate Degree.
Lorraine was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Keokuk. Her faith was very important to her. Seeking to pattern her life after Jesus in the spirit of St. Francis, she became a Lay Franciscan.
She enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Keokuk Garden Club.
She is survived by two sisters, Anne Bielecki of Shelby Township, MI, Lucille Kelly (Richard) of Crossville, TN, eleven nieces and nephews, including Darlene Loter (Mike) of Florida, who had been her caretaker for many years, several great nieces and nephews, including Joseph Milne (Shawn) who also helped care for Lorraine, and several great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Antonette Long and her
brother-in- law, Joseph Bielecki.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday March 26 at All Saints Catholic Church in Keokuk with Father Robert Lathrop officiating.
Burial will be at a later date in the Resurrection Cemetery in Michigan.
