Lorna Elsine Polley, 97 of Keokuk died Tuesday, July 4, 2023 at the Memorial Hospital in Carthage, IL.
She was born April 1, 1926 in Hancock County, IL, the daughter of Roy and Dora Phillips Brownlee. She attended school in Rock Island, IL.
On October 22, 1955 she was united in marriage to Charles Donald Polley. They later divorced.
She had been employed at Servus Rubber in Rock Island, Keokuk Die Casting in Keokuk and also worked on the toll booth on the old Mississippi River Bridge. She then worked at Methode in Carthage, IL and retired in 1989. After her retirement from Methode, Lorna worked at the Keokuk School System in the kitchen and at the concession stands during sporting events. She retired from the school district in 2000.
She a member of New Testament Christian Church in Keokuk. Lorna had been a volunteer with the local Democratic Party for many years.
She is survived by her son Rick Polley of Keokuk, one granddaughter, Rachel DeWitt, a special great-granddaughter Britni Schmidt of Burlington a great-grandson, Braydon Embree, two great-great-grandchildren and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two half-brothers Francis Brownlee and Bob Brownlee and one sister, Elda Brownlee.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m., on July 15, 2023, at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Sarah Vigen officiating. Burial was held in the Charleston Cemetery.
Visitation was held prior to the service from 10-11 a.m., with family meeting with friends at that time.
Memorials may be made to the Charleston Cemetery or to the donor's choice.
