Lorena (Renee) Kay Anderson Zinnert, 62, of Nauvoo, IL, died Monday, September 24, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, IA. She was born on June 23, 1950 in Keokuk, IA the daughter of Jesse and Mabel Anthony Anderson. On September 1, 1973 Renee was united in marriage to Jeff Zinnert in Keokuk. He survives. Other survivors include two sons, Jess (Nichole) Zinnert of Keokuk and Josh Zinnert (Bobbi Carter) of Ft. Madison, IA, one granddaughter, Ayla Zinnert, two brothers-in-law, Phil Zinnert and his wife Ingrid of Orlando, Florida and Joe Zinnert and his wife Sherri of Chattanooga, TN, two nephews, Jeff Zinnert and his wife Amanda, Patrick Zinnert and his wife Jenny, great nieces and nephews, Clayton, Audrey, Levi, Gavin and Jillian Zinnert and two cousins, She was preceded in death by her parents. Renee was a 1968 graduate of the Keokuk High School, received her Bachelor's of Education from Truman State and her Master's degree from Western Illinois University. She was a third grade teacher and media specialist at the Hamilton School District for 35 years before retiring in 2009. She was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Keokuk, the Keokuk Yacht Club, Southside Boat Club and the Hancock County Retired Teachers Association. Renee loved to shop and enjoyed boating, reading and motorcycling. She also enjoyed being outdoors growing vegetables and flowers in her garden. Renee was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and cherished the time she had with her family. Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 29, 2012 at the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Keokuk with Rev. Matt Hunt officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Association.
