Lilly V. Stark, 94, of Keokuk, IA died Monday, June 6, 2011 at her home. She was born on April 11, 1917 in Montrose, IA the daughter of Theodore Andrew and Lelia Frances Best Carlson. In May of 1971, Lilly was united in marriage to Carl J. Stark in Keokuk, IA. He preceded her in death on April 25, 1984. She was employed at Swift & Company in Keokuk for several years and then at the St. Joseph Hospital in Keokuk. Lilly was a member of the God's Way Christian Center in Keokuk, IA. Her church was an important part of her life. She enjoyed her pet birds, growing flowers in her garden, working crossword puzzles and the company of her dogs, Pepper and Patches. She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Stephenson and her husband, James of Keokuk, IA, seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, one step-daughter, Linda Stark of Keokuk, IA, two sisters, Frances Testman of Keokuk, IA and Ina Mae Wadell and her husband Hal of Arlington, TX. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Norma Jean Jacobs, four sons, David, Gary, Jerry and Jimmy Miller, one granddaughter, Connie Sue, five brothers, Donald, Ernest, Victor, Clarence and Charles Carlson, four sisters, Rose in infancy, Leona Alvis, Ida Belle Johnson, and Florence Skonitzki. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2011 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Reverend Alex Kloster officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Keokuk National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
