Lila Lee Land, 77, of Keokuk, IA, died Saturday, June 24, 2006 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA. She was born on December 3, 1928 in Keokuk, IA, the daughter of David Lee and Francis Londrie Coovert. On February 24, 1951, Lila was united in marriage to Thomas K. Land in Keokuk, IA. He preceded her in death on October 9, 1979. Lila was a life-long resident of Keokuk, IA and had been employed at Sheller Globe in Keokuk for 33 years, retiring in 1996. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Keokuk, IA. Lila was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed making clothes for her family. She loved cooking and her specialty was baking cookies. She was a loving mother and grandmother and was a devoted caretaker to all. She is survived by five daughters, Kathy Roost of Keokuk, IA, Susan Welker and her husband Merle of Williamston, MO, Lisa Chapman & her husband Greg of Kodak, TN, Tamara Boley and her husband Mark, and Michele Adams and her husband Mike, all of Keokuk, IA, six grandchildren, Shawn Roost and his fiancé Clancy, Heather Barnes and her husband Jason, Kara Wellington, David Monroe, Caylie Chapman, Emilee Adams, seven great-grandchildren, Logan Thomas, Caitlyn Roost, Jaice Neil, Wyatt Barnes, Shannon O'Day, Kya Inman and Tara Monroe, two brothers, John Coovert of Farmington, IA, and Clyde Coovert and his wife Bobbie of Rialto, CA, one sister, Juanita Willoughby of Wildomar, CA, nieces and nephews, and a life-long friend, Sis Breakbill of Keokuk, IA. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, David Coovert, one sister, Francis Coovert, one son, Terry Land and one grandson, Matthew Adams. Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, June 26 At the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk, IA with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Memorials may be made to the New Testament Christian Church in Keokuk, IA.
