Lester Arlo Piersee, 72, of Keokuk, IA, died Monday, May 21, 2007 at his home.
He was born on March 30, 1935 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Arthur and Velma Wise (Butcher) Piersee. On August 6, 1955, he was united in marriage to Alberta Atterberg in Keokuk. They were married 51 years. She survives.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Debbie Haney and her husband Mike of Keokuk, IA, and Angie Vaughan and her husband Scott of Danville, IA, two sons, Howard Piersee and his wife Mary of Keokuk, IA and Blain Piersee and his wife Jori of Cameron, IL, ten grandchildren, Sara Haney Olsen and her husband Ken, Ryan Haney, Lindsay Piersee, Nick Piersee and his wife Cara, Trevor Piersee, Chris Piersee, Daniel Piersee, Kyle Haney, Hannah Piersee, Zachary Vaughan two great-grandchildren, Aurora Piersee and Owen Olsen, one sister, Mildred Ewing and her husband Bob of Keokuk, IA and a brother-in-law, Art Dunlap of Wayland, MO.
He was preceded him in death by one brother, Howard Earl Piersee, who was missing in action in South Korea in 1950 and one sister, Gladys Dunlap.
Lester was a veteran of the United States Army and served from 1954 – 1955.
He served as a Police Officer for the city of Keokuk, IA. He also owned and operated Keokuk Kirby Vacuum Repair for twenty-five years. He retired as the Building Maintenance Supervisor for the City of Keokuk in March of 2006 at the age of 71.
Lester's greatest love was his kids and his dogs. He also enjoyed going to the boat with his best friend, his wife Alberta.
A memorial service was held at 1 p.m., Friday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Harry Miller officiating.
