Leo McGee, 85, of Union, MO, formerly of Keokuk, IA, died Tuesday August 15, 2006 at his home.
He was born on March 2, 1921 in Farmington, IA, the son of Edward and Ann Smelser McGee. On October 7, 1939, Leo was united in marriage to Martha Ellen McFarland. She preceded him in death on November 3, 1999.
Leo was a veteran of the United Sates Army and proudly served his country during WW II.
He had been employed at Foote Mineral in Keokuk, IA for forty years, retiring in 1983.
He was a member of the Assembly of God church in Keokuk, IA where he served in the Men's Ministry. Leo loved to take car rides in his old convertible and he enjoyed the company of his dog, Reilei.
Leo is survived by one son LeWain McGee and his wife Dorothy of Union, MO, three daughters, Josetta Kelsey and her husband Denny of Ozark, AL, Marti Buckner and her husband Nate of Keokuk, IA and Kandy Loney and her husband Larry of Palestine, TX, eleven grandchildren, Kerri McGee, Tessa McGee and Brian McGee, Melanie Balas, Melissa Lee, Naysunee Buckner, Nate Buckner, Jr., Timmy Buckner, Kenscentay Nye, Kayla Loney and Kyle Loney, two great grandchildren, Amber and Angela Balas, and one great-great-grandson, Alexander Vincent Balas.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, Harry and Clifford and two sisters, Clara and Bertha.
Funeral services with military rites were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 19 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA. Burialwas in the Keokuk National Cemetery.
