Lee V. Reem, 77, of Keokuk, IA died Sunday, May 8, 2005 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA. He was born on July 3, 1927 in Galesburg, IL, the son of Axel and Marie Hall Reem. On August 6, 1950, Lee was united in marriage to Laura Marie Wyatt in Keokuk, IA. Lee was a veteran of the United States Navy and proudly served his country during WW II. He graduated from New Windsor High School in New Windsor, IL with the Class of 1945. He graduated from Western Illinois University with a Bachelors degree in 1949. He had been employed at Ogilvie Mills (General Mills and Henkel) in Keokuk, IA for 38 years retiring in 1989. He was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Keokuk where he served as an Elder. Lee volunteered as a driver of the Meals on Wheels program and also spent time volunteering at Keokuk Area Hospital. He enjoyed woodworking, working in his flower garden and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. Lee was especially proud to be a grandpa and loved to spend time with his two grandchildren. His memory will be cherished by his wife, Laura of Keokuk, IA, his daughter, Susan Schlatter and her husband Joel of Hamilton, IL, his son, Harold Reem and his wife Norma of Arlington, VA, his two grandchildren, Nathan and Rachel Schlatter, and his sister, Dorothy Quick of Clementon, NJ. He was preceded in death by nine brothers and three sisters. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 12 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Reverend Jack Spratte officiating. Burial with military rites was in the Hickory Grove Cemetery in rural Keokuk, IA. Memorials were established for the St. Paul United Church of Christ and the Lee County Hospice.
