Obituary

Larry Dean "Butch" Swinderman, 63, of Keokuk, IA, died Thursday, February 15, 2007 at his home. He was born on January 23, 1944 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Harold and Eleanor Dresser Swinderman. On May 22, 1971, Larry was united in marriage to Mary Loeschen at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Basco, IL. She survives. Other survivors include his mother, Eleanor Swinderman of Keokuk, IA, one daughter, Carol Spray and her husband Chris of Keokuk, IA, one son, Allen Swinderman and his fiancé Shilo Santiago of Macomb, IL, one grandson, Cole Spray of Keokuk, IA, two sisters, Lucy Beaty of Keokuk, IA, and Debbie McVeigh and her husband Ed of Canton, MO, a special brother, Everett Newberry of Keokuk, IA and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, one sister, Linda Sigmund, and his paternal and maternal grandparents. Larry graduated from Keokuk Senior High with the Class of 1962. He had been employed at Short & Sons and Keokuk Contractors and had been a partner with Newberry Towing Service, all in Keokuk, IA. He was an excellent wood craftsman and enjoyed making furniture. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, leatherwork and construction. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m., Monday at the Sunset Memorial Park in Keokuk with Ed McVeigh officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Lee County Conservation Board.
