Larry Link, 69, of Montrose, IA, died Friday, June 9, 2006 at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, IA. He was born on November 12, 1936 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Gardner and Ruth Marshall Link. On October 6, 1990, Larry was united in marriage to Carol Charles in Kahoka, MO. She survives. Other survivors include five children, Randy, Kim, Steve, Leslie and Laurie, two step-children, Melissa and Shawn, five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, one great-grandchild, three sisters, Arlene Glines and Darlene Haage and her husband Wilbur, all of Argyle, IA, and Gerry Hawk and her husband David of Montrose, IA, one brother, Rodney Link and his wife Lena of Argyle, IA, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, John, Ralph and Tommy and one sister, Beverly. Larry graduated from the Montrose High School with the Class of 1955. He was an excellent baseball player in high school and earned the distinction of being the top hitter on the team. He had been employed at Truck Transport and Philly Industries both in Ft. Madison, IA. Larry loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting deer. He also enjoyed taking rides through the countryside to look for wildlife and sit on the riverbank to watch the Mississippi. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., Monday at the Montrose Cemetery in Montrose, IA with Rev. Preston Smith officiating. Memorials may be made to the Montrose Riverfront, Inc.
