Larry Warren Hayes, 67, of Keokuk, formerly of Ely, IA, died Sunday, March 3, 2013 in Keokuk. He was born on March 8, 1945 in Fort Madison, IA, the son of James Leroy and Betty McPherson Hayes. He grew up in Burlington, IA. Larry married Dorothy Kane on March 6, 1966 and they later divorced. He then married Kay Harger on April 8, 1977. They also divorced. He worked most of his life in the finance business. Larry enjoyed watching his favorite baseball team, the Dodgers. Survivors include his son, Marcus Hayes; his mother, Betty McPherson-Hayes; brothers, Jon Hayes, Stephen Hayes and Todd Hayes, sisters, Susan Hayes and Beverly Hayes, daughter-in-law, Jenny Hayes and grandsons, Cian and Lochlann Hayes. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Shelly Hayes, his father, James Leroy Hayes, Sr. and his stepfather, Cecil Hayes. A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 6th, 2013 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church at 14th and Cedar in Burlington, IA. Burial was in the Croton Cemetery in Croton, IA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
