Larry Comstock, 87, of Montrose, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa.
He was born August 17, 1938, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Emit and Virginia Hemingway Comstock. Larry graduated from Montrose High School with the class of 1957.
Larry was a veteran of the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Cuban Missile Crisis as a practical nurse.
On August 23, 1959, Larry was united in marriage to Annie Burns in Keokuk. She survives.
Other survivors include two grandsons, Matt Davis (Lexie) of Keokuk and Jason Hartman of Montrose; one great-granddaughter, Skyler Hartman; and two nephews, Tom Cale (Carolyn) and Lonnie Cale (Gail).
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Becky Comstock Davis; three sisters; and one brother.
Larry had been employed by Thomas Truck and Caster and later by Fruehauf until the company closed. Most recently, he worked as a driver for Shottenkirk for twenty-five years, until his illness.
He was a strong and dedicated union member, serving for many years with the I.A. of M. #566 and Fruehauf Local 1492.
Larry and his wife Annie spent twenty-five years making a home at the Lake of the Ozarks. He loved spending time on the water boating, was an accomplished bowler who participated in several leagues, and enjoyed riding his motorcycle, making two memorable trips to Canada.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 2, at Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, Iowa. Burial with military rites will be in the Montrose Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home, with the family meeting with friends at that time.
Memorials may be made to the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House or the PAW Animal Shelter.
