Larry D. Boley, 65, of Revere, MO, died Thursday, February 16, 2006 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, IA.
He was born on November 10, 1940 in Keokuk, IA, the son of John Edward and Grace Elizabeth Thompson Boley. On August 3, 1974, Larry was united in marriage to Diane Pangborn in Lexington, MO. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Larry Harris of Port Orchard, WA, Robert Boley of Nevada, four daughters, Tina Miesse of Port Orchard, WA, Cheryl Wardlow of Revere, MO, Jean Boley of Wilmington, NC, and Joyce Boley of Keokuk,, IA, eight grandchildren, Nicholas Mauldon, Amber Mauldon, Jessica Miesse, Michael Sweet, Dalton White, Dylan White, Zion Wardlow and Elizabeth White, one great-granddaughter, Madison Mauldon, two brothers, Donald Boley of Keokuk, IA, Robert Boley and his wife Rose of Keokuk, IA, three sisters, Grace Bohannon and her husband Larry of Midland Tx, Betty Boley of Tuscon, AZ, and Judy Rogers of Gardon City, KS and special friend, Taylor Wardlow.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Donald E. Boley, two sisters, Jean Hagmeier and Maryann Howes and two brothers, John E. Boley, Jr., and Carl Boley.
Larry retired from the United States Navy in 1979 after 20 years of service. After retirement he had been employed with Permar as a Security Guard.
He had been stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii and San Diego, CA before relocating to Revere, MO with his family.
He was a member of the American Legion in Kahoka, MO.
In his younger years, he enjoyed playing baseball in the position of pitcher. He was an enthusiastic St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan. He also liked to play golf. He was a very caring man and was devoted to his wife and children. His grandchildren were his pride and joy and he loved to spend time with them.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Reverend Shawn McAfee officiating. Burial with military rites was held in the Keokuk National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the University of Iowa Hospital.
