Kirk L. Reece, 49 of Keokuk, IA died Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at his home. He was born on November 7, 1963 in Keokuk, the son of William and Joan Spurgeon Reece. Kirk had been employed at Dee Zee Inc. in Des Moines, IA and also at Fruehauf in Ft. Madison, IA. He enjoyed listening to classic rock and roll music and watching old Westerns on television. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and had faith that they would eventually win the World Series. Kirk's dog, Smokie, or Smoke Dog as he called him, was his faithful companion and was constantly at his side. Family was very important to Kirk. The time he spent with his family was priceless and the memories that were made will live on in their hearts forever. He is survived by one son, Dillon Reece of Newton, IA, his mother and step-father, Joan and Bill Briley of Keokuk, three brothers, Doug Reece and his wife Barbara of Kahoka, David Hornung and his wife Becky and Bill Reece and his wife Dawna all of Keokuk, one sister, Dixie Kirchner and her husband Clinton of Kahoka, two step-sisters, Barbara Calloway and her husband Robert of Williamsburg, VA and Amy Cochran and her husband John of Jacksonville, FL, two step-brothers, Brad Briley and his wife Sherry and Bill Briley all of Keokuk, four nieces, Jessica Raleigh and Ginny Kruse both of Keokuk, Kristie Reece of Denver, CO and Nikki Snyder of Kahoka, several great-nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents and sister-in-law, Toni Martinez Hornung. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Pastor Jason Peterson officiating. There was no visitation. Memorials may be made to the family.
