Kevin Ray Smith, 57, of Kahoka died Thursday, June 5, 2014 at his home in Kahoka. He was born September 24, 1956 in Edina, Missouri the son of Herbert Roechelle and Elizabeth Marsae Messer Smith. On June 27, 1998 he was united in marriage to Lora Arnold in Kahoka, Missouri. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Lisa Gregory and her husband Dustin of Kahoka, step son, Dakota McCarty of Kahoka, two granddaughters, Riley and Rheagan Gregory, three brothers, Mike Smith and his wife Marsha of Indianola, IA, James Smith and his wife Sharon of Kahoka, Jeff Smith and his wife Debra of Kahoka, three half sisters, Betty McCormick and her husband Jack of Indianola, IA, Sandy Zepedaof Cedar Rapids, Linda Harvey and her husband Dick of Cedar Rapids, and Carol Omby of Cedar Rapids, one half brother Dan Smith and his wife Judy of Des Moines, IA along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, step father, Roy Glen Haskins, a sister, Patricia Ludwick, half sister, Kay Heindrich, half brother James McClain and a step brother Darrell Haskins. Kevin graduated from South Shelby High School with the Class of 1974. He was employed with Matrix Metals formerly known as Keokuk Steel Castings for over 35 years. He was an avid Nascar fan and especially like Dale Earnhardt Jr. He enjoyed fishing and listening to blues music and attending concerts. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14 at the Freedom in Christ Fellowship in Kahoka with Pastor Ray Gilbert officiating. Burial will be in the Kahoka Cemetery. A benefit will be held Saturday June 14 from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the Freedom in Christ Fellowship in Kahoka. Memorials may be made to the Clark County Food Pantry.
