Kevin Marc Baker, 59, of Keokuk died Saturday, July 29, 2017 at his home after a long battle with cancer.
He was born on October 1, 1957 in Kahoka, MO the son of Kenneth W. and Matilda M. Cole Baker.
Kevin graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1976. He received his Associates degree from Southeastern Community College in 1978 and his Bachelor's degree from Cornell College in 1982.
He was an Eagle Scout and had been very involved with Camp Eastman.
Kevin was a member of The Crossing in Keokuk and was baptized on September 21, 2014. He was the ministry leader for the Celebrate Recovery Group in the church.
He was been a volunteer with the Keokuk Volunteer Emergency Corps since 1982 and had served as the Chief since 1994. He also served as a Reserve officer for the Keokuk Police Department.
Kevin had been employed at Baker's Drug Store in Keokuk and then at Keokuk Area Medical Equipment (KAME) where he had worked for the past 32 years as the Medical Equipment Manager.
Kevin was all about serving others in any way he could through his church and KVEC. He loved to scuba dive and he loved his cats Stealth and Sylvie, who were his babies,
He is survived by his sister, Kathie Masters and her husband Marty of Georgia, one niece, a great niece and a great nephew and a special friend and caregiver from the beginning to the end, McKenzie Slater of Keokuk.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday at The Crossing, 610 Timea, Keokuk with Pastor Andy Rector officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk.
Visitation will be held after 1 p.m. Monday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with family meeting with friends from 5 – 8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Keokuk Volunteer Emergency Corps, Camp Eastman Development Association or The Crossing.
