Kerry Lynn Varner, 49, of Keokuk, IA died Thursday, May 4, 2017 at her home.
She was born on August 6, 1967 in Kirksville, MO, the daughter of Gary Swainey and Karen Charlene (Trumbo) Smith.
She graduated from Keokuk Senior High with the Class of 1985.
On April 27, 1991, Kerry was united in marriage to William "Billy" A. Varner in Keokuk, IA. He survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Trenton Lee Varner and Cody C. Varner both of Keokuk, five grandchildren, Aubrie Quinn Mikell, Ethan Dresden, Channing Hansen, Kylee Stepp and Adalynn Smith, her father and co-mom, Gary A. Swainey and wife Vickey of Keokuk, her mom, Karen C. Smith of Keokuk, three sisters, Cathleen A. Courtois (Steve) of Keokuk, Deaven L. Swainey of Minnesota and Kacey L. Swainey (Adam Seabold) of Missouri, three brothers, Andrew G. Swainey (Missy Clise) of Ohio, Ryan C. Swainey (Karin) of Minnesota and Sean A. Swainey (Raegan) of Keokuk several nieces and nephews and her father-in-law, Richard Varner of Keokuk.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, paternal grand-parents, her beloved Uncle Craig and her mother-in-law, Joyce Varner.
Kerry had been employed at the Hy-Vee Food Store in Keokuk.
She enjoyed flower gardening, collecting anything and everything, cooking, sewing and crafting until she was unable to do these things any longer due to her illness. She loved her puppy Herky who was her faithful companion. Most of all, Kerry enjoyed spending time with her family Kerry was a loving wife and devoted mother whose greatest joy was to care for her family. Her nieces and nephews were the sunshine of her life and she loved spending time with them.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, May 8, 2017 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk.
Memorials may be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty for Animals (ASPCA) or to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
