Floyd Kent DaVolt, 60, of Farmington, IA died suddenly Friday, July 27, 2012 in Keokuk, IA. He was born June 4, 1952 in Keosauqua, IA, the son of Floyd "Sug" and Lucille Jones DaVolt. Kent was the owner and operator of DaVolt Demolition for over 30 years. Along with his demolition business he also farmed. He attended the First Baptist Church of Farmington. He enjoyed antique cars and tractors, being outdoors, working and showing his mom his work projects. Kent loved history and watching the history channel. Most of all he loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He was one in a million. He is survived by his mother, Lucille Jones DaVolt of Mt. Sterling, IA, two daughters, Carryna Lynn Rivers of Keokuk, IA, Rebecca Minnick of Quincy, IL, four sons, Joshua Kent DaVolt and his wife Camie, Justin Aaron DaVolt, Jeremy James DaVolt all of Farmington, IA and Christopher Brownlee of Keokuk, IA, seven grandchildren, Laura Poppe, Caitlin Minnick, Austin DaVolt, Benjamin DaVolt, Alexis DaVolt, Christian DaVolt, and Dawson DaVolt, a brother, Jeffrey DaVolt of Keosauqua, IA, three sisters, Connie Dochterman of West Point, IA, Sherry Brunton of Crystal Lake, IL and Rhonda Troutman of Yellville, AR and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd "Sug" DaVolt, a sister, Linda Kay McKinney, a brother in infancy, Timothy K. DaVolt and two nephews, Jason Taylor and Ty Boggus. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Pastor Chad Welch officiating. Burial was in the Oakland - Sand Cemetery in Vincennes, IA. Memorials may be made to the Oakland – Sand Cemetery or to the First Baptist Church in Farmington.
