Obituary

Kenneth Leroy Barrows, 88 of Bowling Green, MO, formerly of Montrose, IA died Monday, September 9, 2013 at the Country View Nursing Facility in Bowling Green MO. He was born November 12, 1924 in Bainbridge, NY the son of Charles and Lena Corey Barrows. On June 19, 1946 he was united in marriage to Pearl Warner. She preceded him in death on June 7, 1992. Kenneth was a veteran of the United States Army and proudly served his country during WWII. He had been employed at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown, IA for fourteen years, retiring in 1981. Kenneth was a member of the VFW Post 3508 in Keokuk. Kenneth enjoyed many years of traveling, visiting people and places and making wonderful memories. He also liked woodworking. He is survived by four sons, Elwood Barrows and his wife Janice of Wellsville, MO, Lloyd Barrows of Bonaparte, IA, Stanley Barrows of Bonaparte, IA and Jack Barrows and his wife Grace of Argyle, IA, three daughters, Janet Burke of Millington, TN, Kathy Casey of Ft. Madison, IA and Karen Bevard and her husband Larry of Keokuk, one sister, Voleda Bauer of Oskaloosa, IA and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great- grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one son, Kenneth Barrows, Jr., one granddaughter and eleven brothers and sisters. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Friday, September 13th, 2013 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Pastor Dean Graber officiating. Burial with military rites was in the Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk. Memorials may be made to Great River Hospice or Heartland Hospice.
