Keith "Monk" Clippert, 86 of Keokuk died Friday, October 17, 2014 at the Montrose Health Center in Montrose. He was born October 8, 1928 in Keokuk the son of Alfred and Evelyn Hutchins Clippert. On December 29, 1954 he was united in marriage to Darlene Krumm in Keokuk. She survives. Other survivors include a son; Kent (June) Clippert of Keokuk, two daughters; Joni (Richard) Knee of Shelbyville, MO, and Lori (Buck) Hagey of Washington, IL, eight grandchildren, Jonah, Kent, Anthony, Jill, Mindy, Kari, Anita and Curt, 13 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandsons, a sister, Beverly Abrahams of West Point, IA, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother; Donald Clippert, step daughter; Donna Foulkes and a granddaughter; Tonya Bigelow. Keith graduated from the Keokuk High School with the class of 1947. Following high school he served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a heavy equipment operator for R. L. Patton in Keokuk, retiring in 1988. Keith was a member of the Elks Club and was named Elk of the year in 1970-1971. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Southside Boat Club and was a former member of the Eagles Club and the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #537. He enjoyed golfing and bowling but most of all he loved spending time with his family. Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday October 21st, 2014 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Reverend Missy Brown officiating. Burial with military rites was held in the Keokuk National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
