Kay Kendrick, 77, of Keokuk, IA, died Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at her home.
She was born on October 29, 1938 in Ottumwa, IA, the daughter of Hal and Edna "Pat" Bell Neal. She graduated from the Ottumwa High School with the Class of 1956.
On June 28, 1958, Kay was united in marriage to James Daniel "Dan" Kendrick in Ottumwa, IA. He preceded her in death on May 5, 2013.
Kay was a gifted musician and played the piano and keyboard. She and her husband often shared their musical talents with residents at local nursing homes in the area. She also loved to dance and she and Dan would attend dances in Quincy on a regular basis.
Kay was an avid reader and especially enjoyed Christian literature. Over the years, she was very involved and knowledgeable about politics and volunteered her time as a poll watcher during elections. Most of all, Kay loved being a homemaker and spent her life making a wonderful home for her husband and children.
She is survived by two sons, Jim (Kim) Kendrick of Hamilton, IL and Jon Kendrick of Keokuk, one daughter Cheryl (Pat) Lammer of Davie, FL, four granddaughters, Amy (Clayton) Hardee of Spring Hill, TN, Jenny (Travis) Mace of Nashville, TN, Katie Kendrick of Columbia, TN and Becca Kendrick of Nashville, TN, three great-grandchildren, Owen Rockenbach of Spring Hill, TN, Ella Negron of Columbia, TN and Clara Hardee of Spring Hill, TN and one brother, Hal (Rosetta) Neal, Jr. of Drakesville, IA.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Jeanne Bollinger and one son-in-law, Mike Bollinger.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, February 8, 2016 at the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk with Pastor Gene Baker officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Lee County Hospice.
