Katherine Hardin, 98, of Keokuk, Iowa, formerly of Hamilton, IL died Sunday, June 29, 2008 at the River Hills Village in Keokuk, Iowa. She was born February 18, 1910 in Montrose, Iowa, the daughter of John and Gladys Wilsey Kleiss. On February 7, 1982 she was married to Searsey Hardin in Quincy, IL. He preceded her in death on September 18, 1992. She was a teacher at Payson Elementary School and she taught the fifth grade. She was a member of the Keokuk Church of the Nazarene and the Illinois Teachers Association. Katherine is survived by a sister Marguerite Thorn of Keokuk, Iowa, step daughter, Carolyn Prisner of Bladensburg, IL, step son Larry L. Hardin and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Virgil Kleiss, sister, Doris Rulon and a step son, Frederick Hardin. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 2 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Reverend Dana Jurgens officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the Keokuk Church of the Nazarene.
