On Tuesday, December 8, 2009, this world lost an amazing woman, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend: Karla Jo Danley. She was 62 years old. Originally from Keokuk, Karla had called Las Cruces, NM home for over ten years. Though Karla's life was cut far too short, it cannot possibly be summed up in only a few sentences. But the places she went, the things she accomplished, and the beauty she exuded will live on in the hearts of those she touched, which was practically everyone she met. As the baby of the family, Karla now joins in death her mother and daddy, Floyd and Betty Danley, and her beloved sister, Barbara Lynne Danley. She leaves to cherish her memory: son, Heath Andrew Hanlin of Syracuse, NY; daughter, Melanie Lynne Hanlin; daughter and son-in-law, Chuck and Leah Danley Bakshy Ruiz; nephew and niece-in-law, Jason and Christine Denholm, all of Las Cruces, NM; two grandsons, Henry Edward and Ezra Floyd Hanlin; one granddaughter, Danley Jolynne Ruiz; and one grandniece, Ursula Hill Denholm. Karla's life will be celebrated at an open-house at Vigen Memorial Home on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 from 5 to 7 pm. Burial will take place privately at Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk. If you wish to give a memorial, Karla always understood and appreciated the importance of both the Keokuk Public Library and Planned Parenthood.
