Obituary

Karen Sue Linquist, 74 of Keokuk, IA died Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. She was born February 11, 1948 in Keokuk, IA the daughter of Kenneth and Lilly Louise Bell Simpson. Karen graduated from Keokuk High School with the class of 1966. On March 27, 1967 Karen was united in marriage to Leland E. Linquist in Quincy, IL. He preceded her in death on August 3, 2019. Karen had been employed at Kmart and Eagle Summit, both in Keokuk. Karen loved to read and especially loved reading Amish stories and Deb McCombers and Danielle Steele novels. Karen enjoyed doing embroidery work. She was an avid Bingo player and kept her mind sharp by working puzzle books and loved a good game of cards and always played to win. She also enjoyed watching soap operas, westerns and gameshows on television. Karen loved to meet her friends at McDonalds and visit over a cup of coffee. She is survived by two daughters, Kandie White (J.D.) of Keokuk and Robin Bay (Carl) of Kahoka, MO, one son, Kevin Linquist (Whitney) of Cedar Rapids, IA her mother, Lilly "Louise" Hickey of Hamilton, IL, four grandchildren, Whitney Wagaman (Corey), Megan Flemon (Trai), Daniel Brotherton (Samantha) and Maddox and six great-grandchildren, Cameron, Charlotte, Coryn, Wrenley, Arwen and Jet. She is also survived by four brothers, Kenneth Simpson (Barb) of Columbia, MO, David Simpson of Columbia, MO, Bryan Simpson (Sara) of Columbia, MO and Rick Allen (Teresa) of Keokuk, one sister, Lynn Hickey of Hamilton, IL and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by her father, one brother, Bruce Simpson and her stepfather, John "Bud" Hickey. A gathering of remembrance was held from 4-6 p.m. on March 30, 2022 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with family meeting with friends at that time.
