June Protsman

June Protsman, 82, of Keokuk, IA, died Thursday, December 13, 2012 at her home. She was born April 4, 1930 in Keokuk, IA the daughter of Burl and Vera Newingham Robinett. On August 10, 1947 she was united in marriage to William Frank Protsman Sr. He preceded her in death on April 24, 1990. June graduated from the Keokuk High School. June worked at Ayerco Convenience Center in Alexandria, MO and retired after many years of service. She was a member of Alexandria Presbyterian Church in Alexandria, MO. June liked to work puzzles and play cards. She enjoyed everything about the Mississippi River. She adored her grandchildren and loved to go camping with them. She is survived by two sons, William Frank Prostman, Jr. and his wife Joyce of Keokuk, IA and Danny "Boone" Protsman and his companion JeriLynne Baker of Alexandria, MO, one daughter, Tina Smeltser and her companion Carroll Cunningham of Alexandria, MO, two granddaughters, Stacey Fincher and her husband Dave of Wever, IA and Brandy Magray and her husband Tony of Keokuk, IA, three grandsons, Zebadiah Smeltser and his wife Dusty of Canton, MO, Cody Protsman of Alexandria, MO and Colten Protsman of Alexandria, MO, one great-grandson and seven step-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons and one son-in-law. Graveside services were held at 11a.m. Monday, December 17, 2012 at the Keokuk National Cemetery with Dr. David Castrodale officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lee County Hospice or the Keokuk Humane Society No Kill Shelter.
