Julia Murphy, 102, of Keokuk, IA, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at Lexington Square in Keokuk, IA. She was born on November 17, 1905 in Burlington, IA, the daughter of Clinton and Olivia Johnson Murphy. Julia grew up in Keokuk where she attended Jefferson and Washington elementary schools and Keokuk High School. After high school, she moved to Burlington where she cooked privately and was a cashier. When she came back to Keokuk in 1944, she took care of patients in their homes. She loved to play Bingo at the Heritage Center in Keokuk and at Lexington Square. In 2006, Julia was the Grand Marshal of the Keokuk Labor Day Parade in honor of her being 100 years old. She has no surviving family members. She was preceded in death by her sister, Uma King on February 27, 1972. A graveside service was held at 2 p.m., Friday, at the Sunset Memorial Park in Keokuk, IA with Gilbert Frazier officiating.
