Judy Kay Taylor, 69, of Keokuk, died Friday, November 16, 2012 at Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA. She was born on April 14, 1943 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Keokuk, the daughter of Harry and Jean Harrington Ensminger (McKenzie). She had been employed at the Iowa State Penitentiary in Ft. Madison, IA for twenty six years and was promoted to Lieutenant. Judy was the first female prison guard hired at the prison and the first female guard to have been taken hostage. Judy loved antiques and enjoyed exploring antique stores and finding treasures. She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Lambert and his wife Mary of Keokuk and Todd Lambert and his significant other, Kristal Cochran of Keokuk, one daughter, Brenda Macy and her husband Randy of Arlington, TX, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one sister, Jane Dodge and her husband Tom of Keokuk She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2012 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery. There was no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Keokuk Area Hospital Critical Care Unit.
