Juanita Elizabeth Mitchell, 94, of Montrose, died Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the Montrose Health Center in Montrose, IA.
She was born on June 25, 1920 in Lomax, IL, the daughter of David LaMar and Sophia Julia Ogburn Harrison. On July 11, 1940, Juanita was united in marriage to Henry Mitchell in Kahoka, MO. He preceded her in death in March 14, 2005.
Juanita enjoyed being a homemaker and spent her life making a wonderful home for her husband and children. She loved to be involved in her children's activities and served as a Cub Scout Den Mother and a Girl Scout Leader.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Montrose.
Juanita was gifted in arts and crafts and made beautiful items out of sea shells.
She was a loving grandmother and cherished the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren and her great-great-grandchildren.
She is survived by one son, David Mitchell, Sr. of Montrose, two daughters, Patricia Hamelton and husband Merle of Keokuk and Pam Lipper and husband Larry of Burlington, IA, eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Pastor David Barrett officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held after 2 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home with the family meeting with friends from 6 – 8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church in Montrose or the donor's choice.
