Josephine Rosemary Dunn, 68, of Keokuk, IA, died Friday, September 19, 2008 at her home.
She was born on December 22, 1939 in Keokuk, IA, the daughter of Frederick Jess and Mary Elaine Mullen Humphrey. She married Ernest Edward Summers, Jr. on May 22, 1959 in Kahoka, MO. To this union four children were born. He preceded her in death in July of 1971. She then married Don Briscoe on April 26, 1973 in Keokuk, IA. He preceded her in death on July 20, 1975. On November 6, 1976 she married Jack Ernest Dunn in Keokuk, IA. They later divorced.
Josephine graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1958.
Over the years she had been employed at Methode Electronics in Carthage, IL, Family Discount Shoes and Corvaia Appliance and Furniture in Keokuk, IA. She also cared for many different women as a home health aid.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Keokuk. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years in Minnesota. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was a wonderful, devoted, and loving mother and grandmother. She treasured the time she spent with her family. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Josephine was a fantastic cook. She enjoyed arts crafts, sewing, gardening, and bowling. She also loved going to garage sales.
Josephine is survived by two sons, Gregory Alan Summers of Keokuk, IA, and Bruce Edward Summers and his wife Debbie of Hamilton, IL, two daughters, Cynthia Louise Wilson of Keokuk, IA and Gail Marlene Six and her husband Earl of Keokuk, IA, seven grandchildren, Lacy J. Renee Summers, Trina Jenae Elshere, Caleigh Melia Summers, Savanna Jo Six, Bobby Lee Six, Kristen Claire Summers and Aaron Edward Summers, one great-grandson, Colton Michael Six, two step-children, Jaqueline Renee Dunn Bowman of Texas and Jeffrey Allen Dunn of North Carolina, one sister, Louise Gooden of Keokuk, IA, one brother, Richard Fred Humphrey of Keokuk, IA and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother Edward Mullins.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Tuesday at the First Christian Church in Keokuk with Reverend Bill Mitchell officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery.
