Obituary

Josephine Mary Allison, 83, of Keokuk, IA, died Sunday, February 27, 2005 at her home. She was born on November 12, 1921 in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada, the daughter of Nora and Patrick Walsh. In 1943, Josephine met James D. Allison, Jr. while he was stationed in Newfoundland during the war. She came to America in 1945 and on May 24, 1945, Josephine and James were united in marriage in Keokuk, IA. He preceded her in death on December 10, 1993. Josephine had been a resident of Keokuk, IA for 60 years. She was a member of the All Saints Catholic Church in Keokuk. She enjoyed traveling with her husband. Josephine was a devoted mother and grandmother and loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by three daughters, Mary Jo Niebuhr and her husband Kenny of Davenport, IA, Teresa Allison of Keokuk, IA and Yvonne Sapp and her husband Dave of Keokuk, IA, four brothers, Jack Walsh, Ed Walsh and Patrick Walsh all of St. John's, Newfoundland, and Jerry Walsh of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, two granddaughters, Jonell Gillespie and Stephanie Niebuhr, four grandsons, Michael Niebuhr, Matt Fowler, Derek Sapp and Patrick Flavin, and two great-grandsons, Dalton and Ian Fowler. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Dorothy Allison Flavin, her parents, and three brothers, Kevin, Jim and Gus Walsh. Funeral services were held at 1:30 Thursday, March 3, at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Father Robert Lathrup officiating. Burial was in the Keokuk National Cemetery. A memorial was established for the Lee County Hospice.
