Joseph (Sam) James Cady

Joseph James (Sam) Cady died on February 23, 2017 at Willard Walker Hospice House in Fayetteville, Arkansas, following a brief illness. He was born March 20, 1930 in Keokuk, Iowa, and chosen by Perry Cady and Verona Rose Cady Gatton to be their son. Sam worked at Hubinger's, later Roquette for forty-seven years. He enjoyed walking, gardening, and traveling with his family. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Janyce (Jim) Blankenship of Fayetteville, Arkansas, three grandchildren, Haley (Jason) Peevler Hall of Apopka, Florida, Ryan (Lindsey) Blankenship, and Jada (Ilya) Minkin of Denver, Colorado, five great-grandsons, Jordan and Jaxon Hall, Kellen and Jaycob Blankenship, and Leo Samuel Minkin, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Tammy Cady, brother, Frank (Butch) Cady, ex-wife Virginia Arns, step-father Willie Gatton, and his precious Yorkie, Sammy. Papa Sam made his final journey from Fayetteville to Keokuk under the care of Vigen Memorial Home. A private burial was held per his request. Memorials may be made to Crossview Church in Keokuk, to be used for their youth program. They may be sent to Vigen Memorial Home, 1328 Concert St., Keokuk, IA 52632.
