Carl Joseph "Joe" Decker, 52, of Keokuk, IA, died Thursday, August 31, 2006 at his home. He was born on February 25, 1954 in Keokuk, IA the son of Carl W. Decker, Jr. and Lola Mae Irvin Decker. He first married Donna Mathys on February 14, 1973. He married Ruth Ann Holmes on November 29, 1996 at the Methodist Church in Kahoka, MO. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Decker of Keokuk, IA, one son, Travis Decker of West Des Moines, IA, one daughter Dena Spray and her husband Nathan of Naples, FL, one step-daughter, Lonnette Sutterfield and her husband Jim of Kahoka, MO, one sister, Christine Sackman of Keokuk, IA, three step-grandchildren, Destiny, Jessica and Justin Sutterfield, four nephews, Jamey Sackman, Todd Sackman, Nathan Sackman and Marty Sackman and one niece, Angela Wrieden. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and one nephew, Bobby Sackman. Joe graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1972. He had owned and operated the Decker Car Wash in Keokuk, IA, Kahoka, MO and Nauvoo, IL for several years. He had also been employed at Henkels in Keokuk, IA. Most recently he had been employed at Metso in Keokuk, IA for thirteen years, until the plant closed. Joe was baptized at the First Christian Church in Keokuk, IA. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed bow-hunting for deer, mushroom hunting, boating and fishing on the river. One of his favorite things to do was to go to the casinos and try his luck. He loved his family very much and was very proud of all of them. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 6 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Pastor Dan Deatrick and Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park in Keokuk, IA. Visitation was held after 1 p.m., Tuesday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with the family meeting with friends from 6 – 8 p.m..
