John "Jon" Albert O'Bleness, 82, of Keokuk, IA, died Saturday, November 24, 2007 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. He was born on January 28, 1925 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Arthur Chester and Margaret Callsen O'Bleness. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and proudly served his country during WW II. He was a pilot with the 248th Squadron and flew B-24 and B-17 bombers. John enjoyed collecting clocks, taking care of his goldfish aquarium, working on electronics such as VCRs and car radios and listening to music. He is survived by friends and caregivers, Darlene & Arnie Becerra of Ft. Madison, IA and Betty Simmons of Keokuk, IA. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Chester Arthur O'Bleness and Harold Carl O'Bleness and three sisters, Flora Glasgow, Dorothy Clara Spauding, and Gladys Garrington. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, November 28 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Pastor Dave Barrett officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Keokuk National Cemetery.
